Common QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions
Choosing someone to guide your financial life is a personal decision, and it helps to know how a firm works before you ever sit down. Here are the things people most often want to understand about us.
You work with Jonathan directly, from the first conversation through every review that follows. Your questions go to the person who built your plan and knows your situation, not to a service desk or a junior associate who has never met you.
Our clients tend to be physicians, executives, business owners, and professionals who have built meaningful wealth and now face decisions that carry real weight. Many come to us approaching retirement or working through a major change, and what they have in common is a preference for straightforward advice and a long-term relationship over a transaction.
Sherrod Wealth Management is independent by design, but the experience behind it is not new. Jonathan has spent more than a decade in the industry, and independence is what lets him give advice that answers to you rather than to a parent company or a product quota. Newer as a firm often means fewer conflicts and more attention, not less experience.
The details depend on the scope of what you need, and we walk through them plainly before you commit to anything. What matters up front is that our guidance is built around your situation rather than the sale of any particular product, so the recommendations you receive are the ones we believe are right for you.
If your financial life has grown complicated enough that decisions in one area affect several others, a coordinated plan usually earns its keep. The clearest way to find out is a short conversation about where you are and what you are trying to accomplish, with no obligation to go further.
The first call is a free thirty-minute conversation to see whether we are a good fit for each other. There is no pitch and no pressure, just a chance for you to ask questions and for us to understand what brought you here.
Because I wanted to build the kind of advisory firm I would hire myself. Independent. Fee-only. Planning-first. Small enough that every client knows me personally and never feels like a number.
Because relationships don’t scale. I want every client to know they can call me, get a response, and receive thoughtful advice. Limiting the number of households allows me to provide a higher level of service.
Because it keeps our interests aligned. I’m paid directly by my clients—not by commissions, product companies, or incentives to recommend one investment over another.
Because investments should support your plan—not become the plan. Before we talk about portfolios, I want to understand your goals, your family, your taxes, your retirement, and what’s most important to you.
Because advice should stand on its own. I don’t believe financial planning begins with a product. It begins with understanding your situation and recommending what genuinely serves your goals.
The first meeting is about you. I’ll ask questions, learn about your goals, concerns, and priorities, and determine whether I believe I can add value. By the end of the meeting, I’ll tell you honestly whether I think we’re a good fit.
I don’t try to be everything to everyone. I work with a limited number of families, build long-term relationships, and focus on helping clients make better financial decisions—not just better investment decisions.
You shouldn’t trust me because of what I say. You should trust me because my actions consistently put your interests first. My job is to tell you what I believe is in your best interest—even if it’s not the answer you expected, or even if it means I’m not the right advisor for you.
